Mark’s principal responsibilities include all areas of company finance such as negotiating and documenting corporate level matters, supervising legal matters, accounting matters and project managers.

Charles Kavanaugh is a graduate of the University of Southern California and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Real Estate Finance. During the course of his career in commercial real estate, Charles’ intensive hands-on approach to all aspects of the real estate business has provided him with an in-depth expertise in all facets of the commercial real estate industry.

Pat Cowan

Pat Cowan received his BS degree in Industrial Engineering from New Mexico State University. Pat’s primary responsibilities include all aspects of construction, which include contracts, management and turnover. Pat also handles planning, entitlements, design, budgeting and scheduling. He serves as property manager on a number of KZ’s assets. Prior to joining KZ, Pat worked as a Senior Engineer at General Dynamics Corporation constructing manufacturing process facilities.

William Shuman received his degree in Business Administration from Chapman University. William’s responsibilities include managing all market strategy and real estate transaction activities for the CVS/Pharmacy account. Activities include site selection, Real Estate Committee site approvals, project management, purchase and ground lease negotiations, corporate marketing and leasing activities.

Kevin Ross graduated from Cornish College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Arts degree. At KZ Companies, Kevin supports all aspects of construction management, planning, budgeting, accounting, property management and office administration at the San Diego office. Prior to working with KZ Companies, Kevin worked for a construction contractor.

Tyler Reeves received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration & Finance from Chapman University. Tyler’s responsibilities include working on Tenant market strategies, GIS mapping, project feasibility analysis, design and site planning, entitlements & permits, lease coordination, project management and construction, debt & equity.

Kimberly Cook has over 20 years of accounting experience with a focus in Real Estate. Kimberly’s primary responsibilities include managing the Accounting and Human Resources Departments for KZ Miller Construction, Inc. of which she is a key member of the management team. She comes to KZM with a bachelor’s degree from California State University Long Beach and a Masters of Business Administration from Chapman University.

Leah Petzen

Leah comes to KZ with nearly 10 years of experience in commercial and retail construction having previously worked for companies such as Eleven Western Builders, Inc. and Sunseri Construction, Inc. in positions such as Executive Assistant, Estimating Assistant and Project Administrator. Most recently, Leah spent the last 7 years at Eleven Western Builders, Inc.

Troy Geyer is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Architectural Studies and a Master of Architecture and Real Estate Development. Troy serves as a project manager for KZ and is responsible for managing the construction process of jobs throughout Southern California. Troy has over 4 years of experience in the architecture and construction industry. He previously worked for companies such as The University of Wisconsin System, Eppstein Uhen Architects and Gensler. Troy holds LEED and CCIDC credentials.

Dona Keene

Office Manager

Dona Keene is the Office Manager for KZ Companies and Executive Assistant to Charles Kavanaugh and Mark Zimmerman. Dona celebrated her 11th anniversary with the company on March 17th, 2014. Dona oversees the office on a day-to-day basis. Additionally, she has been in the real estate development field and property management for more than twenty years.
