Michael Bell

Controller

Michael Bell is a student for life, after graduating from San Diego State with a degree in Accountancy in 2013 he became a CPA in 2016. An interest in law led to the completion of a Paralegal course, to become a registered Legal Document Assistant in 2020. He is the Controller at KZ Miller Construction, leading the accounting team and using his diverse experience to assist wherever needed. Other interests include student pilot, computer geek, snowboarder, and serving small businesses in Orange County through his own CPA practice.

Sean Livingston

Senior Project Manager

Sean is responsible for managing the Project Management Team, our ground up commercial projects, and implementation of systems and process. Sean has an in-depth background and understanding of the building and construction industry through his 15 years in the business.
Prior to joining KZM Construction, Sean worked for JG Construction and has built an impressive resume of projects throughout CA and the West. He has worked closely with national retailers, such as McDonald’s, Chipotle, CVS, IKEA, Target, Wal-Mart. Sean’s primary responsibilities include managing the overall commercial development, design and analysis of a project, project financials, contract negotiations, and co-managing field and office personnel.

Nick Byrd

Director of Pre-Construction

Nick has effectively overseen some of the firm’s large restaurant and drug store remodel projects. From pre-construction to project completion, Byrd is dedicated to managing project teams and subcontractor relationships. He pursued a career in construction management to connect everything he was passionate about: building, problem solving, and working with us in a cohesive environment. He holds Certificates in both Estimating and Project Management from the A.S.P.E. With his extensive background in Business Management and Sales, Nick is able to effectively manage a team and get the job completed on time. Nick came to KZ Miller Construction from PPG Industries, where he held the title of Construction Document Manager.

Julie Laszlo

Controller

Julie’s primary responsibilities include handling all operational accounting transactions and financial coordination of the CVS Pharmacy account. She also manages the financial activities of the general partners & the property management accounts.

Emma Villaroman

Project Accountant

Emma has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Cal State Long Beach. Prior to joining KZ Miller, Emma worked in project management and now uses her economic and management background at KZ Miller as a staff accountant. Emma assists in all aspects of daily financial operations.

Juan Carlos Sanchez

Project Manager

JC received his BS degree in Architecture in Monterey, Mexico in 1984. A career in construction spanning over 30 years, JC has extensive experience in Project Management, Estimating and Architectural design. JC is a Project Manager at KZ Miller, where he manages ground up commercial projects. JC enjoys hiking, cooking at home and tending to his vegetable garden in his free time.

Erik Carpenter, EIT

Erik Carpenter, EIT

Project Engineer

Erik graduated CSULB with honors and became an E.I.T. in Mechanical Engineering in 2020.

In his free time, he enjoys sailing, surfing, and snowboarding.

Currently he is training to become a project manager at KZ Miller Construction.

He believes, the variety of tasks and obstacles during a project, as well as seeing projects completed firsthand, make this the ideal position for him.

His previous experience is in the design and build of renewable gas plants nationwide.

There he gained experience drafting drawings of all disciplines and learned the process of building a successful project.

Amanda Zimmerman

Amanda Zimmerman

Development Associate

Amanda Zimmerman is an Associate of KZ Companies Acquisitions Team. Her primary responsibilities include multifamily acquisition and remodels, assisting in the financing and refinancing of core projects, as well as working with the acquisitions team sourcing ground-up retail development projects in the California and Hawaii areas. Before starting at KZ Companies, she worked for an Office redevelopment and asset management company in San Diego where she focused on loan administration. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys being actively involved with CREW and serves as a committee member on UCREW. Amanda graduated from the University of San Diego in 2018 with degrees in Finance and Real Estate.

Project Coordinator

Amanda is a Project Coordinator and assists with Property Management within the San Diego office. She works with the Project Management team to assist in coordinating contracts, construction change documents and compliance. A native of Imperial Valley, her experience in accounting and office management began in the agriculture and farming sector. Amanda enjoys live music, stand-up comedy and a love for baseball and the San Francisco Giants.
